In the winter of 2002, Alex Rich asked friends to ‘reverse-vandalise’ a public park which was deprived of benches, although evidence that they used to exist was to be found (see flyer, below). Of seating devices were only concrete ‘things’ left and Alex thought we could do something. He also decided it was unnecessary to ask for permission, adding an exciting element for all of us. How could anybody react negatively to our work there? It was for the GOOD. On a mildly cold and wet day, we spent a nice day making. Most of the benches have now disappeared but it was fun AND interesting that someone complained his dog was injured by an unconventional bench.
